Black Sheaffer Balance "Premier" (OS) - Flexible Conklin nib

This Sheaffer Balance pen has a wonderfully flexible Conklin nib. Flexible Sheaffer nibs are truly rare and difficult to find. This is especially true for Sheaffer pens after ~1934. I believe they were mainly - solely? - available by special order. The Conklin nib was in this pen when I found it. It fits perfectly with the original Sheaffer feed and grip section.

I am not adept with a flex nib as you can see from my writing sample. The nib is quite flexible with excellent return yet is reasonably easy to control. Not an expert's wet noodle but more suitable for everyday use.

The cap clip has damage and wear to the plating. Otherwise there are no notable flaws with the pen. The barrel transparency is quite good though the color is dark. The filling system has been restored with modern materials that will last decades with nothing but an occasional application of pure silicone grease on the filler rod.
