Waterman Canada Red Ripple 52 fountain pen & pencil
Waterman Canada Red Ripple 52 fountain pen & pencil
I like Waterman fountain pens. I especially like vintage Waterman Canada pens. For some reason I've found many here in California. I like how Waterman Canada took every opportunity to remind us that this is not a Waterman USA pen. Waterman Canada is emblazoned on the barrel, the cap, the nib, the underside of the feed and on the pencil.
The ebonite is in excellent condition. No cracks and no oxidation. The cap is bandless but there is no evidence of stress or cracking at the cap lip. The nickel clips, lever and lever box are in excellent condition. No pitting, cracks or wiggles. Look at that gorgeous, red ripple ebonite feed.
The nib needed love though you'd probably not know it if I didn't tell you. I massaged it back into shape and it is the typical, amazing, flexible nib that you expect from Waterman. There is no evidence of permanent damage - no cracks, warps, twists. It behaves and responds exactly as it should though I recommend it not be pushed aggressively. I would recommend that regardless. These nibs are wonderful but they are not magical and should be treated with care so that they will write for another 100 years.
