Carmine Sheaffer Balance Sovereign Deluxe - fine point

The Sovereign is somewhat less commonly found among the Sheaffer Balance models. It is the same length as the standard size pens but slightly smaller in diameter. This one is a special model with a milled "jewelers" band. Pens with these caps were not found in the Sheaffer catalog. Lore says they were offered only by jewelry stores that were Sheaffer retailers. Walter Sheaffer began his pen company in his own jewelry store. He seems to have wanted to offer pen shoppers at jewelry store retailers the option of a little bling. The cap band on this pen has a blank spot that could be engraved with a name or initial but it remains blank.

The barrel color and clarity is excellent as can be seen in the video. The celluloid and gold plating are flawless. The fine nib writes a smooth, wet line.

I have large hands yet find no problem writing with this pen without the cap posted on the end of the barrel.
