Black Sheaffer PFM V - fine
Black Sheaffer PFM V - fine
The 1959-1968 Sheaffer PFM (Pen For Men) is considered by many to be the last, great vintage Sheaffer self-filling fountain pen. In may ways it looks more like modern pen than vintage. The inlaid nib was a revolutionary feature in 1959. It continues to be a unique design never truly replicated by any other manufacturer.
This pen has some light plating loss at the edges of the cap peak and the knob plate. I have repaired a minor crack in the barrel at the joint with the grip section. It is small, difficult to photograph and has been perfectly stable for 6 months. There are no other flaws in the plating, trim or plastic.
The pen filler has been restored with a silicone sac. It is impervious to any fountain pen ink and will last longer than a latex sac.
The Fine nib is smooth, wet and has a pleasant bit of line variation. It's so nice.
