There are meh Sheaffer Snorkels and then there are proper Sheaffer Snorkels.
This is a proper Sheaffer Snorkel Triumph with gold filled cap and barrel. This pen is not as rare as some of the high cachet color Snorkels like Fern, Periwinkle & Peacock. Though the Triumph is quite uncommon and is rarer than the Autograph and Signature pens that have solid 14k cap bands.
This pen has a medium nib that is engraved M5 on the underside of the nib collar. The M indicates medium and 5 a conical, 14k nib. Sheaffer engraved nibs thus only on the Snorkels from the later generation after ~1955. The nib writes a generous, smooth and wet line. Perhaps a bit more generous than a typical medium from the era. When flipped upside down the nib writes a very nice fine line. Perfect for situations that require squeezing smaller letters into a space or for writing on less fountain pen friendly paper.
There are small dents in the peaks of the barrel and cap as shown in the photo. There are no other dents, dings, damage or plating loss on the pen.
The filler has been restored with a silicon sac. It will last an age and allows an almost unlimited range of compatible inks.
