1948 Umber Sheaffer Triumph Valiant - fine-medium point
1948 Umber Sheaffer Triumph Valiant - fine-medium point
I don't believe this pen was ever inked. One of the photos shows the pen disassembled for restoration. The inner barrel is perfect, new, light, green with no ink residue to be found. Amazing.
If NOS (New Old Stock) wasn't enough, this nib is fabulous. It has a big, meaty point with a bit of a stubby shape. The point is not perfectly spherical but shaped like a very rounded stub. It has subtle line variation. I've adjusted this nib to write a wet and smooth line. It's glorious.
The Valiant is the largest Sheaffer Triumph along with the Crest Deluxe (gold cap) and Sentinel Deluxe (steel cap). It is not large by modern standards but the cap can post on the barrel to make it perfectly usable for even large hands.
The filling system has been restored with modern synthetic materials that will last for years and years. The only service required is an occasional dab of silicone grease on the filler rod. See my web site for filling and service instructions.
