The Valiant shares the honor as the largest Sheaffer Triumph with its siblings the Crest Deluxe and Sentinel Deluxe. Those have gold filled and stainless steel caps, respectively. Otherwise the barrel and nib are the same for all three pens. Sheaffer called this the Valiant II to distinguish it from the Balance Valiant - a wartime, military clip pen.
This pen is in fabulous condition. There are no flaws to report. The barrel transparency and clarity are excellent. There is no damage, loss, or thinning to the plating.
The nib writes a fine, wet, smooth and luscious line. Typical of Triumphs it has a slightly stubby shape. Not truly stub but it does draw a slightly wider down-stroke than cross-stroke. Thus producing subtle, but lovely line variation.
All Triumph caps can be posted on the barrel if desired.
The filling system has been restored with modern synthetic materials. They will last for decades with an occasional bit of silicone grease applied to the filler rod. The filler restoration is guaranteed for at least one year.
