1943-5 Carmine Sheaffer Triumph Valiant - Extra-fine
1943-5 Carmine Sheaffer Triumph Valiant - Extra-fine
This is a second generation Triumph. Only second generation pens have a striped celluloid grip section. They are my favorite Triumphs. The Valiant shares the title of largest Triumph with the Sentinel Deluxe and Crest Deluxe.
This pen is in marvelous condition. The transparency, color and clarity of the ink view barrel are a bit dark but quite good. There is no plating loss. The only flaw is that someone seems to have polished the platinum plating off the nib tines making the entire nib gold.
The nib writes an extra-fine, wet, smooth and luscious line. Triumphs often write a rather stubbish line and this one does. Though it is quite subtle since the line is so fine.
The filling system has been restored with modern synthetic materials. They will last for decades with an occasional bit of silicone grease applied to the filler rod. The filler restoration is guaranteed for at least one year.
A video showcasing this pen may be viewed on my Instagram account here.
