1943-5 Black Sheaffer Triumph Tuckaway Crest fountain pen & pencil
1943-5 Black Sheaffer Triumph Tuckaway Crest fountain pen & pencil
There is nothing in the world like a Sheaffer Tuckaway. Other pen companies made small pens but none are as unique as the Tucky.
The only thing small about a Tuckaway is the barrel length. The nib and cap are the same size as the full-size counterpart pens. They are even interchangeable and you'll occasionally see a Tuckaway cap on a full size pen as a replacement.
The celluloid is in excellent condition. The barrel has very good transparency, clarity and color. There is a bit of plating loss around the edges at the end of the clip, or clasp as Sheaffer called it.
The vacuum filling system is freshly restored with modern synthetic materials that will last for decades. For a small pen it holds a surprising amount of ink. More than any modern cartridge or converter.
The nib writes a smooth, wet, extra-fine line with a bit of line variation from its stubby shaped point.
