~1938 Green Pearl Circuit Board WASP Clipper - Medium
WASP was a Sheaffer sub-brand (WASP == Walter A. Sheaffer Pen). There are a couple of very nice articles on the subject in The Pennant - the publication of The Pen Collectors of America. The Clipper is the best known WASP. It has checkerboard pattern celluloid that collectors describe as "circuit board".
There only flaws are pitting in the plating on the band, clip and cabochons. The plating is not peeling or deeply flawed and should remain as is with reasonable care and storage. The celluloid is beautiful, unmarred and has very good color, clarity and transparency. The original, celluloid covered plunger rod is intact and in perfect condition with no cracks or blisters.
The nib is fabulous. WASP nibs are 12k gold (unhallmarked) and wonderfully bouncy. They produce very nice line variation under normal writing pressure. They should never be pushed as if they are flexible or even semi-flexible as they are too thin for that sort of abuse.
