1937 Marine Green Sheaffer Balance Statesman - Fine-Medium point

Sheaffer introduced the striped green celluloid in their 1937 catalog. In the 1938 catalog they began stamping pens with a price code below the manufacturer's imprint. So, this pen with out a price code is from 1937 or early 1938. Since Sheaffer did not use date codes I think it is a fun challenge to narrow down the range of manufacturing dates.

This pen has fabulous transparency and a wonderful, smooth, wet nib.
