Black Sheaffer Balance "Premier" pen - lever filler - Fine point

This "Premier" or Oversize (OS) is comparable in size to the Montblanc 146. I think it is a perfectly sized pen; not too big but not too small.

The nib is the best thing about this pen. Sheaffer nibs from this era are notoriously stiff. This nib has a bit of softness that provides some satisfying line variation. It is not remotely soft or flexible, just a little bouncy.

This pen has been well used and shows clear signs of its ~90 year life. While not a show piece it is fabulous writer that is solid and ready to serve for another century. The plating is a mess with lots of wear, pitting and chips. Though the clip and band are tight and perfectly functional. There is a burn pock in the side of the cap, a small plier mark on the grip section and an odd ring scratch around the end of the barrel. But there are no cracks or faults that require dainty handling or care. The pen is robust and ready.
