Sheaffer had sub-brands created for various reasons. They created the VACUUM-FIL brand to introduce their vacuum filler. In 1936 they renamed VACUUM-FIL to WASP, an abbreviation of Walter A. Sheaffer Pen company. WASP pens are known for their interesting celluloids as well as some interesting designs and filling systems - e.g. a twist filler.
This pen is one of the best know WASP celluloid patterns that collectors call circuit board. It is a standard size pen which is larger than the Lady and Junior but smaller than the Large or oversize. The cap will post but it should be done gently to prevent cracking of the cap lip.
The plating on the clip and band is in excellent condition. The plating on the cap and blind cap cabochons is quite worn. The barrel transparency has darkened. The celluloid is otherwise without blemish. There are 2 plier marks on the grip section but they are shallow and I don't feel them at all when using the pen. The nib is smooth, wet, and bouncy.
