I think Persian Blue (1948-1950) and the later, slightly darker blue of the PFM series are the best solid colors that Sheaffer ever produced. I prefer celluloid, but these blues are fabulous and I have several of each in my personal collection.

Persian blue can stain if not cared for. This pen has some darkening mainly on the barrel adjacent to the thread ring. There is also a slight shadow around the middle of the cap but that one is much more difficult to see. Otherwise, the only flaw on this pen is a slight misalignment of the cap clip. It isn't much - the tip is perhaps a couple of mm off center. It isn't the sort of thing that is easy to fix and more damage can be done attempting to do so. Otherwise the pen is in very good condition. The grip section has a bit of darkening but has reasonable clarity so the ink level is easy to see.

The nib is a lovely, smooth, wet fine. The cap may be posted gently and will remain securely in place to provide reasonable length for a writer with large hands and a high grip.

The filling system has been restored using modern synthetic seals. An occasional dab of 100% pure silicone grease on the filler rod will keep this pen working for several more decades.

The pen is similar in size to a Pelikan M200 or a Sailor ProGear Slim. Though it holds far more ink than either of those pens.
