The M indicates medium point and 3 a standard (not conical), 14k nib. I believe Sheaffer engraved nibs thus only on the Snorkels from the later generation after ~1955. The nib writes a generous, smooth and wet line.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan title=\"Edited\"\u003eThe pen is in perfect condition - this is no exaggeration. The metal cap has no dents, creases, lost plating or any other damage.
