I've heard opinions the Aurora 88 was a knock-off of the Parker "51". I think that does  too little credit to Aurora. The 88, in my opinion, is one of the best pens ever made. I have two 88s in my personal collection but not a single "51".

Aurora offered the 88 with 9 nib options. A matrix of 3 point sizes (fine, medium & broad) crossed with 3 grades of flexibility (flexible, medium flexible & firm). This nib is a medium flexible fine point. It is in excellent condition with no evidence of misuse. One must be careful purchasing a flexible nib 88. The nibs are small and thin and easily abused beyond their capability. This one has been well kept and has wonderful response. I am not a particularly adept flex nib writer so I find the medium flex perfectly suited for every day writing.

The piston filler is simple and robust. The original leather gaskets have been replaced with a modern, synthetic rubber o-ring that should last for years. The ink window has good clarity - perfect for checking the ink level. there are no marks or dent in the cap. There is one area of thin plating at the top of the clip. Otherwise the cap is in very good condition as is the celluloid, the ebonite filler knob and ebonite grip section. It's a wonderful pen.
